Tuyet + Duy | Married!

We spent this past Saturday with Tuyet and Duy, who you may remember from their Engagement/Bridal Session.  These are some our favorites from the day:

Tuyet had different outfits for different parts of the day, this one for the first tea ceremony was particularly colorful!

Tuyet’s brother anticipates the arrival of Duy and his family for the presentation of the gifts and tea ceremony:

Some of the details:

I couldn’t decide between the ring shots, so you get both :-)  :

They were bombarded by confetti upon their entrance to the reception:

Thanks and Congrats Tuyet and Duy!

Stephanie + Mark | Engagements!

We had a great time shooting with Mark and Stephanie yesterday! They’re a bunch of fun and full of surprises! I’ll post my favorite images from the session first, then tell a little story of one of those surprises. :-)

High Five! (In your best Borat voice)

OK, on to the surprise. Mark and Stephanie have been together for 10 years as of Sunday, and their first date was on this very beach. They have been engaged for a bit but they just recently decided it was time for a ring. Mark apparently wanted to have a little fun with this, and got us in on it. :-)

He bought a total of 3 rings, 2 fake and 1 real. He wanted to propose to her officially on their 10th anniversary among friends and family, but he wanted the “real” proposal to happen in front of my lens on Monday in the spot where they had their first date, so what’s a guy to do? He proposed over the weekend with one of the fake rings, and she immediately spotted it as a fake! At first he thought he was busted, but good thing he had backup in the car. He presented the 2nd fake ring, and that one made it past inspection. :-) Who would have guessed he would do it twice?

Fast forward to Monday, we get to the beach where they’d had their first date, and I suggest that we do a “ring shot” while we still had good light. Mark gets the real ring that he stashed in my camera bag, and I ask him to remove Stephanie’s ring so we can get some shots of it. Mark decides a shot of the ring in the sand would be very cool, and this is where the fun really begins:

I don’t think she liked his idea for the ring shot much at all:

He buried the ring!

Then he unburied it and threw it into the ocean!! She’s only smiling now, because she thinks he was joking. :-) Someone is going to think they hit the jackpot when that washes back up on shore!

What did you do?

Out comes the real ring!

I think she was happy. :-)

The real ring shot: (I think!)

Thanks for the great time you two! We’ll see you on 8/8/8!

We’re Home!: Part 6 Last one!

Hi all, this is the final installment of the series of personal work from our vacation. I hope you enjoyed them, thank you all for the comments here and the great ones I’ve received via email!

The last images are from our time in Paris:

Starting things off are two of my favorite things in the world combined into one image. A big bag of fresh Pierre Hermé, and one of the chairs in the Jardin du Luxembourg. I can’t fathom a better breakfast, or a better place to enjoy it.

Here is what is quite possbily the best Pain au Chocolat you’ll ever find:

Followed by an even better (c’est pas possible!) Croissant aux Amandes:

They also have the very best Macaron I’ve ever had, and we tried alot of them when we lived there. :-) Do yourself a favor and make a beeline for Pierre Hermé if you’re ever in Paris.

This image tells a story. I guess if you were going to have your bike stolen, this is the best place for it to happen. :-)

Cars just don’t get anymore French than this:

A little Italian too:

A little British for good measure:

This particular door has special significance. This is the door to the building we used to live in. They just don’t make ‘em like that in SF.

This is why I don’t have very many photos from Paris. We were just WAY too busy having picnics either in Luxembourg, or along the Seine. :)

OK, that’s all of the personal images you’ll have to endure for quite awhile. Wedding season is now upon us!

Thanks again for viewing!

New Book Offering!

I recently designed this as a sample to show off a new line of books that I’m very excited to be offering. This will soon be joining the lineup on the pricelist officially, and is available now for any of my current and future clients who are interested in a purchase or an upgrade. Please contact me for details. :-)

These books have a thinner page than my Custom Leather Albums, but thicker than my previous offering for a “coffee table” type book. I would describe the page thickness as similar to a card stock weight. The pages are completely matte, which to me gives a really modern, high end feel. The pages are also full, creased pages, meaning there is no page break in the middle, and thus I am able to design full spreads rather than individual pages. There is a photo cover, that has a nice subtle texture and a satin finish. Pretty sweet!

I designed this one as a Guest Book, which is meant to show off your Engagement images at your wedding, and is designed with generous white space so your guests can leave their well wishes. I even supply the proper pen for the job, although they’re so nice you might not want anyone to write in it!

This particular book was designed from Kiyomi and Lan’s awesome Engagement session. Stay tuned for their wedding in late June!

The same type of book can be used to feature your wedding images as well.

This image shows how the new book compares to the Custom Leather Album (bottom), and my current coffee table type book (top).

I will follow up this post soon with some info about the Custom Leather Album as well since many of my current clients who booked a while back may not have had the chance to view them yet.

Thanks for viewing, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new book! Please take a moment to comment below!
