A big thanks to Kristin and Billy, as four of the 5 images came from their spectacular wedding!  Your genuine emotion and intense love for each other and your family made it easy to produce images that win awards!

I’m thrilled to post the results from my first contest with the ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers)!  Not only am I proud of my involvement with the organization in general, which has very high standards for membership, but that I placed 17th overall (among the 100′s that entered) in their Winter 2009 image contest with 6 of the images I entered placing in it’s given category!

I didn’t win the grand prize this time, but I guess you can’t win them all! :)

Wedcomp had some crazy talented judges this time around, and I’m very proud that they chose my work in each category.

Here are the images that made it in, and a fun statistic: 6% of all of the placing images in the Wedcomp competition were mine. :)

Judge’s Comments:

What a creative way to tell a story about guys getting ready (or not getting ready!) The bright yellow socks and the row of recliners are communicative and funny. The flips flops and pile of stuff on the floor are typical of the groomsmen’s rooms! Often, guys get to hang out while the bride and bridesmaids are scrambling to get ready. This photo says it all.

Judge’s Comments:

I love when there is context to an image. Stepping outside of a situation and encapsulating the moment within the context it’s taking place is a wonderful thing. This image does this beautifully. If, perhaps, the maker could have waited a bit longer, perhaps a stronger moment could have been captured. Still, it has a terrific feel to it. Very Jeff Ascough like.
